2/22/21
How are you all doing? I’ve been thinking of you all very much. I continue to work with most of my clients at this time, but others who I have not seen in a while I miss and think about often. I hope you are all well and coping ok with the continued measures.
I wanted to let you all know that I have recently received my 2nd dose of the covid-19 vaccine on 2/11/21. What I have come to learn through some of my own research is the vaccine does not really change any of our social distancing measures… yet, anyway. Although I am now less likely to contract the virus and it is somewhat safer for people to be around me, it does not prevent me 100% from contracting the virus. But it does keeps me from getting seriously ill if I come in contact with the virus. It also lessens my chances of spreading it. Nevertheless, I am still taking all of the usual safety precautions in my office.
The CDC continues to carefully study the virus, the vaccine, and the effects it will have on future spread. But right now, science just can’t answer all of the important questions we all have like: “Can I spread the virus being vaccinated? Can I contract the virus having been vaccinated? Can I pass the virus on after being vaccinated? How long will immunity last with having the vaccine?” Right now science simply does not know because this is all so new. But the CDC continues to track the sick and the vaccinated as it also uses various assessments to learn more about Covid-19 and the vaccine.
In the meantime, I know this pandemic has taken a toll on many of us. It has dramatically changed our lives and change in general can be extremely hard for most people. This morning as I sit here reflecting, I am thinking of some of the positive things that came about through this pandemic. For one thing, our dog Lily never has to be alone (lol). We also always know where our 16-year-old son is at a time in which he could be out there “experimenting.” My husband and I have been exploring new ways of cooking, listening to music, and creating new at home things to do to keep from becoming bored. I’ve been outside walking in nature more, writing more, and spending more time alone and “within” – therefore learning more about myself and growing. Don’t get me wrong. Some days are hard. We all know that. For example, trying to motivate our son to get up for online school and stay engaged is a regular source of frustration. We also miss our daughter terribly who is away at school in another state because visits have been limited with distancing measures. But taking a little time each day to reflect and count my blessings is what keeps me sane. I keep imagining a time in the future when we can all take off these masks and hug each other once again – and that is what keeps me going.
Just wanted to take a moment to check in and say hi. I also wanted to keep you updated on what is new with me and my practice. Please continue to take care of yourselves.
